Alexander McKay Memorial Fund

By now some of you have probably heard that Alexander McKay passed away at the end of August 2007. This is a terrible loss for the Vergilian Society. Sandy was a tireless supporter of all our activities literally for decades, a model scholar and gentleman, and a voice of reason and calm through many a storm. We shall miss him terribly.

But we shall not forget. The Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees have been in contact with Sandy's family, and they have enthusiastically endorsed our desire to set up a memorial fund with the Society in Sandy's honor. Contributions will be added to the Vergilian Society's permanent endowment, with the interest available to support the full range of our activities in Italy, as the Board directs from year to year, in recognition of where Sandy's heart lay.

Contributions may be made in two ways. 1. Checks made payable to 'The Vergilian Society-McKay Fund' should be sent to the interim president at the following address:

2.Contributions to the Alexander McKay Memorial Fund can be made using a credit card, via Paypal. Contributors using this option should include a note in the appropriate place on the Paypal module indicating that the funds are for the McKay fund.

All contributions will be acknowledged, and the family will be given a list of contributors. We will also be placing a plaque in the Villa Vergiliana in Sandy's memory.
